The battle against the Blight Mother reached its climax as Mike O'Riza shed his physical form and seeped into the Blightoak itself, channeling the power of the Bloodstone Amulet directly into the tree's corrupted heart. The cleansing ritual took hold with overwhelming force, and the roots binding the Blight Mother to the ancient tree snapped like severed tendons. Her monstrous vessel of bramble and bark collapsed into a heap of dead vines and splintered wood, and from the ruin, a pale, shimmering silhouette rose — the spirit of Victoria Belesand, freed at last from centuries of imprisonment.
Count Dracula stepped forward with trembling hands, cradling the preserved body of his wife — the woman he had loved beyond reason, beyond death, beyond centuries of grief. The last embers of the Bloodstone's power swirled like liquid fire and leapt from the amulet into Victoria's body, and her spirit was drawn downward into her flesh in a final, brilliant pulse of light. After what seemed an eternity, a breath escaped her lips, her heart beat once more, and her eyes opened. For the first time since her death, Dracula wept, collapsing to his knees and pulling her into his arms as the Blightwood bore witness to the first moment of peace Wachovia had known in centuries.
But triumph was short-lived. The Blightoak, now emptied of its prisoner, began to pulse with a deep crimson glow — not the light of corruption, but of raw, infernal power. The Belarch stepped forward, his eyes burning with triumph, and the ground split beneath him as a spiraling maw of fire, shadow, and screaming wind tore open at the base of the tree. Demons poured through the gateway in a tide of claws, wings, and horns, flooding the Blightwood like a nightmare given form. The Belark raised his hand, and the spectral chains binding the Revenant shattered, its flames shifting from sickly green to blazing crimson as it rose to do its master's bidding. Alcchemist Veyran uncorked a vial of screaming infernal energy at his father's side, and Necromancer Lilitha lifted her staff wreathed in blood-red fire — a family of ruin, reunited at last.
Even as the chaos erupted, Victoria rose to her feet, trembling but radiant. A soft white glow bloomed from her chest, gentle at first, then blazing like a lantern held against the dark. She lifted her hand toward the party and spoke with quiet certainty — they had freed her, and she would return the gift. The ancient holy light surged outward, warm and impossibly pure, touching each of her rescuers in turn, healing their wounds, restoring their magic, and lifting their spirits. The glow faded from her body entirely as the blessing transferred into the party, and Victoria's knees buckled, her strength spent. Victor caught her as she collapsed, exhausted but smiling, while Dracula rose beside the party with fury burning in his eyes and his fangs bared for war. As the Traveler, Lena, and Sybil attempted to flee through a teleportation, Necromancia Lilitha latched her purple energy onto their ether trail, and she and her brother vanished after them, leaving the party to face the Belarch, his demons, and the freed Revenant alone.
Mike O'Riza and Sir Ulric Thornstrom wasted no time. Ulric strode forward with the swagger of a man who had already decided he would win, declaring that the enemy was not trapped in there with him — he was trapped in there with them. Together, the two unleashed a catastrophic celestial assault, calling down a falling star and a torrent of meteors that hammered the battlefield with earth-shaking force. Demon after demon vaporized under the impact, and both the Revenant and the Belarch were driven to their knees beneath the crushing weight of the heavens. For one breathless moment, it looked like victory.
Then the Belarch laughed. It was a low, rumbling sound that vibrated through the ground itself, and as he lifted his head, his eyes burned like twin suns. Crimson light spread across his skin like molten rivers, his bones cracked and reformed, and his silhouette stretched upward and outward into something monstrous. Vast, leathery wings veined with glowing crimson burst from his back, horns curled upward from his skull crowned in fire, and his skin blackened and hardened like volcanic stone. His mouth split into a maw of illuminated fangs, and his hands became long, hooked claws dripping with infernal energy. The Belarch rose before them as a towering demonic titan — the true shape of the host, the form whispered about in fearful legend throughout all of Wachovia. He spread his wings and cast a shadow that swallowed the entire battlefield, his dual voice booming across the Blight Grove as geysers of molten rock erupted from the ground below. The final battle had only just begun.
