BLOODSTONE #25: THE HELLARCH

The battle against the Hellarch and his infernal forces reached a fever pitch as the demon lord called upon his dark power to resummon a fresh wave of demonic minions to the scorched clearing. The Hellarch revealed a sinister ability to drain the hope and resolve from those who dared oppose him, sapping the party's strength with every successful strike. The Revenant, a relentless undead warrior wielding a soul-rending blade, moved in to cut down Greg the Haunted Armor with a series of devastating blows, each one absorbed through sheer grit and the protection of his enchanted armor. Sir Ulric Thornstrom called upon a warden's blessing to mend the wounds of his battered allies, buying precious moments for the party to regroup and press forward.

The tide began to shift when Sir Ulric Thornstrom raised his greatsword and brought it down in a massive overswing aimed at the Revenant. The undead warrior leaned back with a casual, almost mocking grace to dodge the blow — but the arc of the blade caught him anyway, and his head left his shoulders in a single devastating stroke. The Revenant's body crumpled to the ground before erupting into crimson flames, crumbling to ash as its infernal essence was extinguished, leaving the Hellarch as the sole remaining threat of consequence on the battlefield.

The Hellarch was not idle. He spread his massive wings and unleashed a torrent of spikes that pelted Sir Ulric Thornstrom, who had transformed into a towering, T-Rex-like beast to meet the demon on equal footing. The demon lord continued to pour fear into the hell portal, summoning wave after wave of demonic minions that swarmed the party from every direction. Sir Ulric answered with a thunderous battle cry — "Welcome to the Thunderdome! I'm the tower of power, and I'm about to bring you down!" — before launching into a spinning warhammer assault that crushed, swept, and shattered four demons in a single fluid sequence of devastating strikes.

Mike O'Riza and Sir Ulric devised a bold counter-offensive. Mike charged toward the Hellarch in his massive beast form, drawing the demon's full attention, while Sir Ulric slid between the creature's legs from below. At the last moment, Mike dropped out of his transformation and called down the sky itself in a devastating celestial strike, raining cosmic destruction across the battlefield in a wide arc. The combined assault obliterated the demon horde and left the Hellarch bloodied and staggering, his ancient infernal pride cracking under the weight of the onslaught.

The Hellarch retaliated with savage fury, seizing Sir Ulric by the throat and slamming him into the earth before firing a volley of wing-spikes directly at the critically wounded Mike O'Riza. Sir Ulric, battered but unbroken, invoked the protection of his enchanted ring to halve the force of the Hellarch's grip, then heroically threw himself into the path of the incoming barrage to shield Mike from certain death. Greg pressed the attack, driving the blade of his greatsword upward into the Hellarch's most vulnerable anatomy with a blow so severe that, as the table agreed, the demon's future generations felt it. The Hellarch screamed in agony as the party closed in around him.

Mike O'Riza, his tendrils lashing out in a wide spinning arc, cut down the last of the demonic minions while Si Ulric flew in close to distract the towering demon lord. Greg seized the opening, delivering a series of brutal greatsword strikes that culminated in a clean, decisive decapitation. The Hellarch's wings flared one final time, casting a crimson glow across the clearing as he roared, "I am eternal!" — but his head was already falling. The hell portal answered the demon's death with a beam of crimson light that erupted from the rift and struck the Hellarch's body, ripping his infernal essence away in a spiraling torrent of red flame and shadow. When the light faded and silence fell, all that remained was the broken, motionless body of Mikael Belesand lying on the scorched earth.

With the Hellarch gone, the party turned their gaze to the hell portal, which pulsed and flickered with dangerous instability. Mike stepped forward and began weaving a complex ritual, pouring his power into the corrupted land in an effort to heal the wound torn open between worlds. The process was slow and taxing, the portal resisting his efforts and clinging to its foothold in the mortal realm. The countdown to its closure had begun, but the battle was not yet over — a handful of demons still prowled the clearing, and the portal's dark influence had not yet been fully extinguished.
