CLUB VOID| MAINFRAME #4

The United Terran Guard prepared for their next mission to Club Void in Quad City's upscale Star Valley district. Metatron played the role of the band manager and donned an elegant white tuxedo, transforming his appearance to resemble Moon Knight's Mr. Knight persona, while Ragnulf wove a powerful glamour spell with Torin's musical assistance. The magical disguise made the entire team appear as a traveling band, with Torin as the lead drummer and the others as various musicians, even making their tactical equipment look like musical instruments.

Arriving at Club Void in a luxurious government-provided limo, the team encountered a long line of patrons waiting to enter the exclusive nightclub. Torin boldly approached the bouncers, using his world fame and the band's disguise to demand the front entrance rather than being relegated to the back door. Metatron subtly manipulated the bouncer's brain waves with electromagnetic fields while Ragnulf cast a hex to make the security more compliant. After some resistance, the bouncers grudgingly allowed the "famous band" to enter through the main entrance.

Inside Club Void, the atmosphere pulsates with electronic music, neon lights casting shadows throughout the space, and a packed dance floor. The team immediately noticed something disturbing about the patrons - they moved in trance-like states, flowing with the music but completely unaware of their surroundings. People didn't react when bumped into, seeming lost in their own worlds under some form of mental influence. Security personnel were stationed throughout the venue, watching the crowd with professional vigilance.

Metatron attempted to pickpocket a woman in a satin dress to gather intelligence, but a security guard spotted him in the act and grabbed his arm. Using his lightning-fast reflexes, Metatron quickly placed the stolen money into the guard's hand, claiming it was a donation for the band. Metatron electromagnetically scrambled the guard's thoughts, leaving him confused about what had actually transpired. The security guard warned them against stealing and threatened ejection, then reported the incident through his earpiece to his superiors.

The team was escorted to the stage where they prepared to perform as part of their cover. Torin set up for what he called an "MTV unplugged" acoustic performance, while Ragnulf adjusted their glamour to make them appear as a proper band with instruments. Using his weather control abilities, Ragnulf created dramatic fog effects and thunder to enhance the atmosphere. Xero used his combat batons as drumsticks, maintaining the illusion while staying true to his tactical nature. During the performance, Torin channeled his bardic magic through the music, specifically targeting the entranced audience with his Inspire the Masses ability.

The magical music had a profound effect on the crowd. As Torin's energy pulsed through the venue, the trance-like patrons began to emerge from their mental fog. People stopped their robotic dancing, looked around in confusion, and began asking questions like "Who are you?" and "How did I get here?" The performance was a resounding success, both as entertainment and as a counter to whatever mind control was affecting the club's customers.

After their set, six security guards approached and escorted the team to a private lounge for a meeting with the club's owner. The exclusive area was heavily guarded and decorated with luxurious velvet furnishings. There they encountered Sandman, whose real name was Francis King - a fit, attractive black man in his late twenties with braided dreads adorned with gold beads. He wore an expensive teal velvet jacket and multiple chains, but his most striking feature was his eyes: glowing iridescent blue orbs without visible pupils or irises.

As soon as they saw Sandman, each team member experienced flashes of their own personal memories being brought to the forefront of their minds. The psychic demonstrated his power by revealing he had been seeing Torin in his dreams for weeks and knew they would eventually come to his establishment. Torin confronted Sandman about breaking codes and hiring mercenaries to harm professors and doctors, threatening consequences for crossing the line. Sandman responded with veiled threats about visiting them in their dreams, where he claimed they wouldn't be able to win.

Ragnulf attempted to analyze Sandman's nature using his mystical knowledge and recognized the psychic abilities as similar to "pushers" he had encountered during his duties as a bridge between worlds. The entity before them was clearly a powerful psionic with the ability to manipulate minds and enter dreams. Sandman made his business proposition clear: he would provide coordinates to the next Augur asset location in exchange for a future favor to be named later.

The team debated the offer, with Torin consulting his "drummer" (maintaining their band cover while referring to Kira). After assessing the tactical situation - nine guards plus Sandman with active psychic abilities in his own territory - they decided to accept the deal. Torin took the data pad containing the coordinates, while Sandman smiled and made it clear that when he called in the favor, they wouldn't hesitate to comply. As they prepared to leave, Torin threatened that their confrontation wasn't over and that someday they would meet outside Sandman's "sandbox." Ragnulf cryptically mentioned something called the "Giza protocol" to unnerve their host, and Sandman responded telepathically that he looked forward to their future encounter.

The team returned to their government limo and began enjoying the amenities, including mini bottles of alcohol and snacks. Kira used her glamour magic to appear as a college student while standing through the sunroof, reveling in the experience. Their celebration was interrupted when Director Locke contacted them through the vehicle's communication system with urgent news. She revealed that S.O.A.R. had successfully decrypted files from Dr. Piers's terminal, uncovering evidence of a coordinated effort involving layered encryption and deep ghost routing.

The intelligence pointed to a mysterious entity calling itself "Mainframe" that appeared to be orchestrating hidden movements and linked assets. Director Locke emphasized the critical nature of this discovery and ordered the team's immediate return to headquarters for a full debriefing, stating that every second counted. The team realized that Sandman's intelligence and their newly decrypted data represented different pieces of a larger, more complex puzzle.

Returning to their S.O.A.R jet, the team took time during the flight back to headquarters to recover from their mission. They used their downtime to heal any remaining injuries and restore their magical abilities to full strength. All team members emerged from the experience fully recovered and ready for whatever challenges the Mainframe intelligence would reveal. As they prepared for their debriefing, they knew they were on the verge of uncovering something much larger and more dangerous than they had initially anticipated.
