The team gathered in Project Genesis's dimly lit war room, where Dr. Davenport and Colonel Cross briefed them on their mission to rescue Patrick from Russian territory. They learned that Hawk had been placed in cryo-containment due to complications with void enhancements, and their objective was to rescue Patrick while working with Dr. Thaddeus Miles Stein's team as liaisons.
Patrick found himself in Rasputin's ornate throne room, surrounded by mechanized sentries and experiencing conflicting voices urging him to both flee and fight. Unable to teleport his team to his location, Patrick threw grenades and escaped using void energy, his body rippling between liquid and solid states. The team planned their infiltration by disguising themselves as Russians, with the intention of presenting Takeshi as an "experiment" despite the ongoing Japan-Russia conflict.
After being airdropped into the Siberian tundra, the team discovered a heavily fortified watchtower with void energy conduits. They infiltrated through a hidden storm drain pipe, successfully avoiding dangerous bioluminescent mold that could cause hallucinations. Katya demonstrated her strength by destroying a ceiling-mounted security turret as they made their way through the maintenance tunnels.
Meanwhile, Patrick found himself in a mysterious boundary realm with black sand and violet auroras, where he encountered giant demonic void wolves and their mistress, Anya Velkaria. After a brief confrontation, Patrick made a blood pact with Anya, receiving her mark which granted him Shadow Leap and Woven Insight abilities. She then opened a portal allowing him to rejoin his team.
The team discovered a letter from Elise revealing that Rasputin's tower was actually a gate, and they proceeded to free their imprisoned allies, Corporal Anderson and Heinrich von Grimm. Heinrich, once connected to his mech suit, provided them with map data showing their location relative to Moscow and Rasputin's castle. The group fought their way past void detection arrays and drones, with Heinrich using his mech suit to carry team members while others teleported. Their escape led them to a hangar containing aircraft that could potentially transport them to Moscow.
